Curriculum

At Happy Days Early Learning centre, educational programs and curriculum is designed to engage and enhance children’s varying interests and to cater for individual learning needs & styles. Our tertiary qualified and highly skilled teachers (Diploma and Bachelor graduates in Early Childhood Education) are responsible for the implementation of educational programs across the centre, and for all age groups.

The Pedagogical Leadership Team is responsible for guiding and mentoring our team of teachers. We value our colleagues as reflective educators who are open to new ideas and focused on best practice as they guide our children to develop as critical thinkers and lifelong learners. 0- 3-year-old educators use both; The Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) and Belonging, Being and Becoming: The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (EYLF) to guide their programs. 3- & 4-year-old educators use The Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) to guide their programs.

Curriculum Design:

Our curriculum model is tailored around individual and group observations, developmental needs, and interests of the children. We follow a detailed circuitry planning cycle, which is analysed, designed, evaluated, and scaffolded every 14 days to ensure links are being made to the approved Frameworks, principles, practices and learning outcomes of the educational programs. Curriculum for each age group is available on our app OWNA to view.

Project Work

Project work is the foundation of our educational program at Happy Days. Influenced
by the Reggio Emilia approach, children will participate in quarterly collaborative
classroom projects. Educators will introduce a range of ideas for the children to explore in depth – often guided by curiosities the children have expressed. Educators document the children’s learning throughout the
term, giving families an opportunity to observe and participate in the projects
themselves, alongside their children. Project work is recorded in photographs,
observations, writing and drawings, and continuously evaluated and reflected upon throughout the journey.
Project books are created during each term and are available for children to display their learnings to their
families. Educators complete a detailed summary at the conclusion of each project.

The heart of the Happy Days Early Learning philosophy is a belief in the importance of responsive and
reciprocal relationships. You will feel this the moment you enter our centre. Relationships of this nature,
grounded in mutual respect between all members of our community create supporting and nurturing learning environments and a place where everyone can reach their full potential.

At Happy Days, our centre is uniquely different. Reggio Emilia inspired, we pride ourselves on offering beautiful and engaging learning environments with open-ended resources that create endless learning possibilities. We believe that through play in children develop the foundations for further learning including understanding who they are and where they fit within the world. We are committed to a holistic educational approach to empower children’s learning and inspire children to develop a kind and respectful disposition towards others and the environment.
